AIR & EGR Questions (tried searching)
Other than the SES light, is there any reason to keep the AIR & EGR systems after a header install?
If not, can I just remove them, block off the holes and go??? Will the car still run without the systems hooked up? Will it affect performance at all?
And, just to be sure... the EGR is the tube that runs from the intake, through the bog solenoid looking device bolted to the passenger side head, and down to the mainfold, right?
And the AIR is the tube that runs from the passenger side header to the driver side, right?
Can I just disconnect the AIR at the "T" junction near the rear of the driver side head? Do I need to plug or cap the "T" there or just leave it open?
I think that is all.
Thanks!

There's a sticky for this stuff.
You can rip it all out. EGR connects #1 primary to the intake manifold, AIR connects the driver and passenger side, then runs down a hose past the driver side hood hinge, and down to the AIR pump behind the driver side blinker.
There may be a SMALL vacuum line connected to your AIR solenoid (looks like a spaceship by the #7 injector), which needs to be plugged. Depending on the year of the motor, it may not have this.

I read the sticky but didn't see anything about how removal of these items will affect the car as far as cranking and running WITHOUT having it "deleted" with a tune.
Any info?

I just removed mine a few days ago. The engine runs fine and everything works as normal, you'll just end up with the SES and a code or two. If you have tuning software or any auto store...you can rid of this.
I don't believe the 98's had the AIR solenoid.

I just put a set of LT`s on my 02 camero and it dose not have an EGR but I just unpluged the AIR hoses and theres a plug in up in the bumper on the drivers side (unscrew two 10mm bolts under the bumper and its a little door that just pulls down for easy excess). I just unpluged it there and unbolted the smog pump and took it out (u dont need it). Then I took the hoses out from under the hood i did have to plug a vacuum line that was at the back of the driver side value cover. None of this made the SES light come on but i didnt have a EGR.

Ha... get this...
I tossed the AIR and EGR... cranked the car with open headers (o2's with about 4 inches of collector behind them) and...
NO SES Light...???
Not complaining, just found it amusing. My car has had the SES light on since I changed cams like 2 years ago... and now it's gone!
We'll see how long it stays off I guess.
