Default Best compression for 408.

Okay my final stages are closing in on my 408 plan before I buy the parts. What would be the best compression ratio to run for the street and normal gas octane ratings. I want to squeeze all the power I can out of the engine, and still be able to run regular pump gas. I need to know what cc piston, gasket, and cc chamber on my heads. Please give me some insite... Head I am using are the AFR LS1 225cc heads with a choice of 62 amd 72cc chambers. Also, the piston options I have are -12,-15,-2,-10.

It depends on the Cam also but I would start with -2cc pistons,72cc AFR's,GM gaskets and a mid to high 240 Cam.

See thats just it, I have no idea what cam to go with. I want something like mentioned above. Streetable, every little bit of horsepower squeezed out of it.

11.5:1 for a 408 in a street car should make some sweet power with the right heads/cam setup. -2 piston with a smaller chamber should do the trick.

btw, i have a great cam for a 408 street motor. 243/246 .632 112 pm me if you're interested in it.

That should help you out. You can enter different combos and see how they turn out. Find out the deck height of the pistons, then you can figure out what kinda quench to run, then pick gaskets. Then you can delect chamber CC and piston CC to hit the right Static CR.

I agre 11:25 to 11:5 at the most would be optimal for power and reliability on good 93 octane pump gas like BP on a N/A application!
