Default Quick question on Warranty Voids!!!!!!!

Hey guys, most likely i spun a bearing and i will be takin it in to the dealer because i am under an extended warranty. My question is: I am runnin nitto 555r's and my friend said if i go in with drag radials, its a quick warranty void.

Is this true???

Read your warranty's fine print.

I've heard some companies voiding warranty's cause in the fine print it said something about having stock wheels and tires.

Dude has different wheels, no more warranty.

That's with most of the aftermarket companies though.

But I could bet GM won't like the fact that you have Drag Radials on it, as it proves racing and abuse, which is against the contract.

Swap em out!

I agree. I think it's better to be on the safe side and just show up with stock wheels. I believe in your situation the last thing you need is a void warranty. Play it safe.

You asking for trouble by taking the car into the dealership, especially looking for warranty work with Drag Radials or Slickks.

Also, your public post of this very topic will likely play into you losing your warranty.

GM reads these messages boards.

I wouldn't worry about your warranty being voided for drag radials, I'd be more concerned that you're running aftermarket heads.

i doubt that they'd even notice that its a 243 casting number instead of a 241, there is no mention in his sig of a cam so i doubt that they'd even think about the heads.

i'd be more worried about them removing the motor thats in the car now and losing your 243 heads!

Hi Folks
they will use the heads - if anything it will be a short block replacement. The may even change the crank, it all depends on the condition of the block.
thanks

I had several warranty claims with my car. I had a "reduced power" message come up in the display. The tech looked over my car and said hey bud how do you think I am going to be able to warranty this?? I said, " easy nothing has been done to the internals." He talked to the service mgr and the mgr called GM (I had already called GM) the mgr returns and says fix it, its all under warranty. So my point is if you only have boltons you should be ok. If you have heads/cam you are probably screwed. Good luck.

Usually if the mods are directly related to the failure...

Drag radials come into play when your wheel well is covered in rubber and they can claim you were beating the hell out of your car and deny your warranty claim.

Clean the wheel wells very well. DR's are normal street tires and they have no evidence you were using them in anyway out of the ordianry if there is no rubber on the car or in the wells.

You people sound like your letting dealers walk all over you. They cannot just void your warranty because you pull in with DR's. It is a street tire and totally legal to run on your vehicle.

I would see drag radials hurting you if you popped the tranny, rear end, clutch, etc.... but not the motor. Clean the car well.
