LT1 to LS1 Swap
Right now in the process of swapping out my LT1 for an LS1 out of a wrecked F-body.... car was in really great shape, southern car from virginia really clean, only needed a hood, fender, headlight, headlight assy., and bumper cover to be fixed... but insurance company totaled it and gave it a non repairable salvage title... so i decided to swap the ls1 into my car, which currently has the LT1..... i'll post pics all the way through the swap.... if anyone has any tips please let me know!!!! and also a question, i know speartech does wonders with ls1 harness' to just plug and go with stock lt1 body harness', but i was curious as to what you would have to do to make it work.... i have a complete donor car so it shouldnt be all that difficult.... thanks for your replies!!!

Well after a month the swap is finally done and the car is on the road.... i'll post some pics eventually.... been really busy with the swap and all...... runs really good... only bugs i have are the brake lights not lighting up except the 3rd brake light, signals work and tail lights..... kinda strange.... also my heat only has high speed.... minor issues and could be a lot worse....any ideas on what could be the problem with my tail lights?

so wait, did u just put a stock LS1 in ur car? If so, why go through all that trouble and not do heads and cam or atleast some headers? Just would seem like a waste to me to put a stock ls1 in thier without any goodies. did u notice a big differance?

haha yeah Jeff did help me out quite a bit lol.... and actually it wasnt too big a waste, since the stock ls1 block is capable of holding up to 5-600 horse.... and ive noticed that they respond to mods really really well... nothing bad against my LT1 but they just have a different feel power wise... it seemed to me that the LT1 was a humongus torque monster as the LS1 was not as torqy but just kept pulling you back.... plus i didnt really pay anything for the swap... i sold a car and a buddy bought my old 6-speed so it really wasnt too much out of my pocket.... yeah probably would have been better off puting it in the LT1... but how many 94 camaro's do you see with an LS1 in them? plus i dont have to worry about emissions since i did this rather to owning an actual LS1 car....

when you did your swap, did you swap the LS1 tail lisghts and taillight harness? if so, but not the main harness going back along the drivers side , you are probably missing teh brake switch signal. They are wired differently in that you need to run an additional wire to the back. I'll see if I can look it up, another guy was asking about it.

yeah me and my friend were going to try to get the stock body harness and cluster to work from my LT1 interior to work with the LS1... but once we got both wiring diagrams we were kinda mind boggled so we just swapped over everything... and i did leave my stock LT1 tail light harness in the back then i swapped the LS1 in there and it ended up working... but thanks for your help!
