well here is what i have so far......

right now i am setting up my spare 10 bolt. But last night at about midnight i found out i left the "paddle" that goes in my posi unit up in college station. So as soon as the weather slows up a little bit i have to drive up there, pick the paddle up, and continue working on this junk.

I am done with holding my breath every time i get on my car hoping the rear will hold. I am either going to get a credit card to buy a 12 bolt or take out a loan from somewhere. Any thoughts?

Here it is:

Well, I'll certainly never agree with using a credit card or taking out a loan to mod my car, but the pics are definitely cool (well, as cool as broken shit that leaves you stranded can be).

haha yah i know what you mean. When i first pulled the cover i was like "Oh shit......thats kinda cool" but then i was thinking about how my car is now not able to drive until i get my spare installed. And as far as the credit card and loan i agree with you. But i have a guy i'm about to work for who might lend me the money and just let me work it off. So we will see. But until then my car wont see the strip with drag radials.

Let me just say, that I get the point. :headbang: It was kinda like when you were a kid and you kept pulling on your favorite toy to see how strong it was... but then it breaks.

I once broke a 10-bolt within 15 minutes of bolting on a set of ET streets. It just happens, and is the best way to prove first hand how much a 10-bolt sucks.

Ford's crappy 5.0L gets a 8 7/8" ring gear, V6 mustangs and LS1 cars get a 7.5" gear set...

You know, if Torsen would just use a stronger/hardened/treated case (including the T2R!), half of the explosions we see probably would not happen. Of course, I'm NOT talking about higher than stock power combined with anything stickier than a Nitto DR. ;)

I agree most people dont have 2400 laying around in cash to do a mod to there car ! As long as you pay the bill on time i dont see nothing wrong with using credit ! Credit is what makes the world go round lol! And m6= 9in or 360. I wouldnt go with the 12bolt for a m6 car or you might end up in the same boat with sticky tires ! just my .02$

SHIT, i broke my eaton posi in my strange 12 bolt last weekend with just a set of DR's.... i guess 400+ wheel horse and tire spin into 2nd and 3rd is just harsh. so even with a 12bolt, you can still break shit....

good luck, and never take out a loan to mod a car, IMO...

I think we should sticky this thread, so when we get 10 threads a day with people asking "will my 10 bolt hold up with mickey thompsons?" we can refer them to this...

I'm good with that! And by the way keliente thanks for making that write up about rebuilding the 10 bolt. I finished my rebuild yesterday and it is quieter than before!

:) That seems like too obvious of a suggestion. Someone should have already done this. :)

I just put my 427 on my card! 10k in a matter of seconds. I will however pay for it right away but in the past it was also the only way I had to mod my car.
