dont jump at the opti just yet. could be a lot of things. i dont think the optis will misbehave at startup then run good when warm. sounds like maybe a fuel issue. thats my 2 cents

i gotcha. but have you ever heard of this kind of thing and what can i do to fix it. i was remembering when it first start. i had put some fuel booster in it and went to the track and the next day it started this. maybe that will help too.

check fuel pressure you might have a pinhole in your fuel pump line in the fuel tank. This causes the car to not hold prime and it takes alot of cranking to get it started. I had this problem changed out the fuel pump and wallah fixeddddd. I had a small hole in that flexible hose (the one that looks like a straw)

whatever it is, sounds like it might be from racing. racing is hard on parts as im sure u know. but in your opinion, do u think it is electrical or fuel? we would be able to help better if u know which one it is

Mine does the same exact thing...only when cold. I believe its a fuel related issue. What I have done is after trying to start it once, turn the key into the on position to get the pump going, wait a second and then start it...mine fires up instantly when I do this. I believe what 1BADB1RD is saying that its a prime issue. I only have about 30K on my replacement opti, new plugs, and wires, never been raced.

Good luck

yea try that. i always wait until i hear the fuel pump shut off before i start cranking, in all my vehicles. i think its better on parts and starts easier.
