oil pressure
when my car has been run for a while my oil pressure really dosent go past 40 even at redline and when im idiling its right above the red marks .....is this bad or is it normal

From the factory most of them only put out 5 psi at idle. It is supposed to be safe still but it always bothered me looking at the gauge. The rule of thumb is that you only need 10 psi per 1000 rpm.

once warmed up mine idles around 30 psi and tops at around 60 psi. I read somewere though that the oil pressure at idle shouldn't drop into the 20's definatly not below 20's then u have problems and shouldn't be driving the thing. I would think you oil pressure should definatly build up higher than 40 psi. When my engine is cold it idles around 40-45psi and then drops down to 30's when it warms up.
