Default Round trans cooler?

Does anyone know anything about these trans coolers that are 12"-18" long, kind of round, and have fins surrounding them? They come in different colors. Are these any good or are they pure junk? I've never seen them before till today. Just curious.

Trans coolers are all about the same. Basically its a cooler line wound up with fins on it to dissipate heat.

Shape should make no difference , I have seen those they are interesting looking , All coolers basically work the same reguarless of shape but I have found the flat tube type like we are giving away this weekend with trans are more efficent from measureing temp in and out by about 20 percent over the round tube versions

Are you talking about the brazed plate style cooler? Stacked plates with a reservoir on each side?

no the tubes are flat instead of round gives a greater cooling area cooling only happens where the fins contact the tubes round or flat

Actually the round tube coolers have less contact area with the fins and must be larger physically to do the same job.

I see these coolers on ebay most the time. They look like a gimmick rather than something functional. Is anyone using one of these for their tranny?

I kinda figured the gimik thing too and it would seem there might be some mounting impracticality too
