A day with Fikse
This is a repost from the wheel/tire section, but I thought you all would be interested.
I went down to try on my new shoes the other day. I have ground/rolled rear fenders and was trying for 17x8.5 +38 255/45/17 up front and 17x9.5 +44 285/40/17 in back. Tires are GS-D3. Here's the results:
Pic 1 - The wheels
Pic 2 - Close-up of left rear
Pic 3 - Shot from behind, serious beef
Pic 4 - Closer shot of just how beefy
Pic 5 - Pulling out of the garage
So, then I did a little testing to see if they were gonna rub.
Pic 6 - Starting to launch
Pic 7 - Full acceleration
Pic 8 - Right side
Pic 9 - Left side
Pic 11 - See what rubbing looks like on a new tire
So, now we've got some 275/40/17's coming. It's too bad the 285's rubbed.
Since Fikse is a sponsor I just want to add that they have given me 100% customer service and satisfaction. They are eating the cost of the extra pair of tires. When they say they guarantee fitment(when they to the measurements in house), they mean it.

Yup, 6851 220th, that's just East of West Valley. They're in the very back building of the complex and the only sign is a smallish one right at their business office. Danny and Will are the guys in the front office.
FWIW, I went with 9.5 in the rear in the hopes of the 285s fitting. If I had planned for 275s I would have stuck with 9.0 in the rear to save an extra pound and give a little more clearance.

Looks awesome Pat! I love those wheels and your going to Love those tires...I love mine...
Are your rear wheels out of alignment? They look like the bottom of the wheel/tire is sticking out further than the top. Might just be the way the pictures are taken though...

I already rolled the edges, that's how I got 275's under there.
As for alignment, the rear is supposed to have a good bit of camber. That's normal for an IRS car.
I am getting used to the GS-D3's up front. Coming home from the track today, in the rain, was odd. Normally when you hit a puddle at 60+ it's the front end that drifts. Nope. Those GS-D3's held firm and it was the Nitto's in the rear that were floating on me. Time to put some normal tires back on before I hurt myself.
Thanks for all the comments. The more I see them on the car the more I like them.

Funny about the rain..
I was just telling Ellis the other day that I was going down 522 in the rain one day last month and had a car that kept riding my butt...I hate when they do that, so I just started driving in the ruts where all the water was, they backed off and I didn't have that problem anymore. These GS-D3's do Rock!
