Vette LT1: Advertised or Actual?
So the LT1 Vettes, did they really make 300hp and 340-350tq, or was that just a marketing ploy? If they did make more power, whats the difference between the F and Y body LT1s? Is the extra power all in the Vette's dual exhaust?

As far as I know the engines were the same except for the exhaust setup. I'm thinking it was the same marketing technique as GM did for the Ls1 Corvettes over the Ls1 F-bodies. They didn't want to advertise a cheaper car making the same power as their flagship car.
Edit: Just looked in the basic Lt1 specs sticky and everything was the exact same except that the Corvettes had 4-bolt mains.

Well that's a shame. I hope now that I chipped my car (and if I can get that drv O2 changed) I'll beat my friends 94 M6 Vette. All he has done is cat delete, and we removed the air cleaner cover middle so it's open element. Think I have a chance? My EGR and AIR are programed out, among many other things I tinkered with.

I'm pretty sure a C4 is lighter than an F-body and he has an m6 while you have an a4. I'm assuming you don't have a stall since it isn't listed in your sig? It depends on how well he can drive an m6, if he knows how to drive then it should be a close race with him edging you out I would think. Post up results after you run him.

LT1 vettes make the same power 6-speed for 6-speed when compared to a F-body. The only advantage is the Vette has 3.45 gears through a ZF6 tranny which has a great gear set, it is around 3250 lbs in weight (don't know an F-body's weight), 4-bolt mains, and an awesome dana 44 rearend. They are only as good as thier weakest link, so it depends who has a better opti in my opinion =). They should be relatively close on a dynojet. My LT4 put down 308rwhp @105k on stock opti and it's only rated at 330hp from the factory =). LT4's are underated to make all the people who bought 97 C5's feel better even though LT4's make the same hp if not more and have a much better tq curve.

Those are pretty good numbers. I never dynoed my 92 a4 Vette when it was stock.

Yea, all the numbers for cars are flywheel ratings, so once you get everything to the ground you've lost around 15-35hp and roughly the same with torque. The say about 10hp lost in a manual and 20-25 from an auto. Then you have the rear end and tires etc which takes a more ponies out of it. So I'd say your LT4 and 93 Vette are right on the money. @ 105K that's good you're still making strong power.
Thankfully, I just remember, I think he has the 2.73 gears mwahahha I'd have to double check that but seriously he maxes out the car @ the Governor in 3rd or 4th (135 or 140mph). It's pretty sad. Should've been a Highway Patrol Vette lol It is decked out in options though. I want the 3-way adjustable suspension from his!!
Right now he has to get his opti in order and every time he flushes the car it keeps coming out REALY nasty he says. Runs water for 30mins and nasty. So I don't know if someone put Dex in with some Green or wth. But his pump started going out and dripped on the Opti :\ HOPEFULLY we'll get a line up this summer. Maybe by then I'll actually have my 58mm on >_>

LT1 was introduced in 1992 into the Corvette, 1993 into the F-cars. (I know that they are in Caprices, Impala SS, Roadmasters, and Cadillac Broughams, but we are talking about performance Cars here, not Taxi's..)It was factory production until 1996 in the Corvette, and 1997 in the F-cars.
The Corvette and F-body LT1's are identical, right down to the Cam. The difference being the 4-bolt Mains.
The LT4 was introduced in 1996, it had different Intake, Heads, Cam, Crank, Pistons, and Timing Gears and Chain. It was in the Special Edition Corvettes (Collectors Edition, Grand Sport), and in the 1997 30th Anniversary Camaro SS, which 100 were made.
The LT5 was concept in 1987-1989 when it was joint-built with Lotus, introduced in 1990 into the Corvette only. The Engine is a 5.7l, TWIN-DOHC 32 Valve Engine that had 400hp/370tq Factory stock.
The base Corvette in 1990 was the L98, the special edition 1990 ZR1 had the LT1 Corvette Body Style. This remained in production until 1995. All ZR1's are M6's, and all were fixed Hard Tops, no Targa Tops or Convertibles.

When my '94 c4 was stock and 115k miles (totally worn out valve springs) it made 264whp. Tunercat and 160 stat got it to 290whp. better springs would have made it peak at 5500 rather than 5100 and I might have hit 300, but I yanked the motor and spent the last year and a half building it.
