Default GM ASA Cam

Wanting to go with a GM ASA Cam in my 6.0L LQ9. I read an article from car craft that said deeper valve reliefs must be machined into the pistons. Did anyone running an ASA cam follow this procedure?

What pistons/heads/valves? I'd think you'd have to run big valve/small chamber heads and flat top pistons to start running into ptv issues with the ASA.

I believe they were reffering to the Grand Am Cup Cam
The ASA does not require flycutting.

The article was referring to LS1 engines. Here is the link
www.carcraft.com/howto/ls1_engine_cam_install/
It talks about the ASA Cam about halfway down the page.

The LQ9 that I am running has 317 heads and flat top pistons. Not exactly sure on the actual sizes of the valves though.

yeah I was a little surprised with that article that said that because so many people run that cam without any problems, I haven't read anything where people had to flycut, so you should be fine.

So for those of you running this cam, it is my understanding that good flow in and out of the motor is essential. I heard that running the LS6 intake is the preferred intake to use with this cam. Does anyone know if successful horsepower gains can be achieved using the LS1 intake.

I think I would solicit information from an engine builder that has checked the PV clearance. The flat top pistons of the LQ9 could be an issue; not the same as an LS1.
