Question Just bought a used cam, what is the next step?

I bought a used cam, 228/232 to be exact to replace my MS3 (too large, good track cam, if anyone is wondering)

Anyway, I wiped it up yesterday after UPS dropped it off, and it appears to be just fine...I can clearly see where it was making contact with the lifters...all looks well, no scratches, etc...

Anyway, I was wondering if I should swing by a machine shop to have them polish it up, or clean it up a bit? Maybe get it cam doctored to confirm all of the specs...

Or should I just clean, oil, and install?

THANKS!
E

If theres no visible damage, no rust and no pitting, Id just stab it in the block and fire that mother up. Good luck.

I'd check the specs just to be sure. Easy to do once it's in the motor, or just put it on a cam doctor.

Name 1 person that stayed with the initial shot on their car. Back when I had nitrous I went from a 100-125-150 in a week.

where di u get it done at though. dyno numbers are subjective... i highly doubt the car picked up that much power just by tweaking the tune. u would have to be on the same dyno and look at the correction factors to get an honest idea of what u gained.

I say go with 100shot I'v seen alot of LS1 sprying 200shot with stock bottom end but with a GOOD TUNE.

Good luck and keep us updated on the numbers.

numbers were slightly high, but not off by much...
car was running PIG rich, and was on a halfway tune..trust me...

tuning was done by a non sponsor...highly recommened though
