One or the other.

However, I think (though I could be wrong) you get a better HP increase and airflow with the K&N FIPK kit (The top pic).

Yea you use either one or the other. Those are two different parts that replace your stock box. I have the FIPK and i like it, but im not sure which is better. I think the FIPK is, but i just found out another trick to get more hp out of it too.

he is using the lower air box (minus lid) and setting the FIPK filter ontop of it.

honestly, i wouldnt use an FIPK unless you had an ultraZ hood for a Z or a WS6

I have a SLP lid and a K&N Factory replacement filter. I personally am not a fan of that open type filter look however that JMHO.
