Default Vette motor for Camaro

I have a 2000 LS1 camaro. It has 120,000 miles on it and has a rod knock. I found this motor for sale. ..................1999 Corvette LS1 engine, 58,000mi. no accessories or harness, been converted to camaro throttlebody and oilpan to put in streetrod, has factory headers and engine mounts, engine in excellent condition, easy way to drop 350hp into your ride, carburate it and add a healthy cam, and 450hp plus is easy to attain, $1500.00 comes with engine stand.

Can i make this work on my camaro? What issues will i run into? Thanks.

It'll work. All LS1's are the same: camaro, firebird, or corvette doesn't matter.

Take a look at the balancer. Vettes and Camaros use different balancers on the front, and they are NOT interchangeable. You will need to remove the balancer hub from your camaro engine and install it on the Corvette engine for it to work.

the ls1 in a corvette has the exact same amount of horse power that your camaro originally had. ls1s in f-bodies were underrated from the factories so they wouldnt step on on the vettes toes

You guys are forgetting that the missing 40 hp comes from the plastic fuel rail covers on the Corvette.

well its just that it gets old when people ask " so you got a vette motor" or "wow those corvette motors can sure run". when i try to explain to them that all v8 camaros firebirds and corvettes from 98-2004 came out with the same motor they think im the idiot. especially when i blew my first motor and bought a pullout ls1 from a 98 camaro they thought i was retarded for downgrading, and now since i got a 408 i tell em i bought a iron block truck motor.....oh boy its so hard not to bust out and just laugh at them in their face and thats why most of the time i do end up laughing at them. hell one guy thought c5's came out with a bigger cam because vettes were 345hp and camaros were what 330. i can go on and on...
