Default Rent a Tire ... anyone use them?

At first when I was told about them... all I could think was "Uhh, that's kind of weird" ... but then after I realized I need to spend money on just other than tires... I got to thinking... if I put a $200ish amount down... I could get reasonable tires that I'd actually appreciate instead of finding the cheapest Z rated tires around ...

anybody have any experiences with them? I don't want wheels, just the tires, but I have a co-worker who bought a set of wheels/tires and is only spending another $800 with I guess a $200 down payment ... all they need is current phone bill, copy of license, social, and some other things that aren't too important ...

Seems somewhat shady, but I've no experience with it, and curious if anyone else did. (sorry, I'm redundant haha)

You realize that Discount Tire typically has 6-month or 1-year zero interest payments too, right?

Yeah, but you have to have good credit for that. Maybe he doesn't?

If you have bad credit, then just stop financing things. If you can't afford to pay for 4 new "reasonable" tires outright, then you are better off just buying some cheapies.

pay your bills on time instead of buying fancy tires for fancy cars. Get that credit stuff resolved, it is more important than car parts.

its nothing to do with not paying bills on time... one is a broken lease that is in the middle of being disputed between myself, a creditor, and the apartment complex, and the other is a furniture store that never delivered any product, which is also being disputed.

therefore, I'd rather not pay for those at the moment.

I would bet that anything with "Rent-a-" in the name is a rip off.

could pay it off next month and I don't think I'd be paying anything extra vs. buying the tires anywhere else... simple fact of the matter is though, I need them now, not later
