No cats = always smell like gas?
I'm looking at doing some longtubes and an ORY eventually before I do heads and cam but I was wondering: is it guaranteed the car will always smell heavy of gas or do the headers just cause it to run rich (which can be fixed with the tune)?
Thanks in advance, I don't have experience with longtubes on these cars.

Mine smells a little, not that noticeable at all unless I'm standing at a light or something...but it's not like it's going to sting your nostrils it smells so awful. I kinda like it

That's good to hear. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't really care at all but since the car is my daily driver I make use of it for work sometimes (until I pick up a second vehicle). I don't want all my suits to start picking up the smell of gasoline, haha.
Also there's that sleeper factor since it's a street car and smelling like gas = definitely not stock .

After tuning my car it only smell a little. Of course if I leave the car warming up in the garage it will add up and be noticeably stroger but it is not really a gasoline smell.

I find that interesting and it leads me to a question for those of you that have more "smelly" cars.
Are you tuned or untuned?
It sounds like the guys with tuning and/or lots of break-in time have less of a smell because the car leans out a bit either manually or through PCM adaptation. If that's the case, i'm set because I'm going to do heads/cam around the same time I do headers and will most likely get tuned shortly after .

mine smells horrible and it's tuned.
most guys who have a cutout or dumps under the car complain more than those who let the exhaust run all the way out the back though. Mine doesn't bother me when my cutout is capped.

Mine is tuned, with the stock cam and everything, but really only smells when I'm in my garage. After getting my new truck, I didn't realize how much it smelled...my truck doesn't smell like anything (except rice burning). My girlfriend has never complained, so I never worried about it.
