Default PCV grommet, Where to get one? pic inside

I was changing my pcv valve for the first time in a long time and noticed the inside of the grommet was disintegrating. It's almost all the way through. The dealer wants me to buy the whole tubing system for $120. Napa and advance didn't have it either. Am I stuck with looking at junk yards?

I'm checking in to see what information you get.

I feel the plastic bucket that holds the pcv valve is allowing unmetered air into the motor.

Some guys think the oil is the issue but I tend to think its the black plastic bucket on my ls6 thats letting the air in as the pcv valve I believe is moving in the bucket ..(getting sucked in a bit and then allowing unmetered air in)

I could be wrong so I don't want to spend 180 bucks for a new one from the dealer..

I've read someone went with a twin nipple pcv valve here and regular hoses to connect..

Maybe he'll check in here..

When I changed the PCV it was like that and sucking air causing it to run lean. I ended up fabricating a new one out of some hose. No problems since, can't remember exactly how I did it (3 years ago just after buying the car). I do remember buying the parts at Autozone and spending less than $15 for them.

Will,

If you get a chance take a photo of it. How did you get the hose to wrap the pcv valve without the GM bucket? and still mate to the ls6 hard plastic tube? or did you change pcv valve so that you had two nipples on the pcv ..?

IF so which pcv valve would you use?

Thanks

My rubber housing for the PCV valve was doing the same thing...if you go look at Vato Zone though, you'll see that they carry at least one PCV valve that accepts hose on both ends. I just bought that, and bought some 5/16" fuel line to hook it up from the outlet to the valve and from the valve to the manifold. It'll save you some money, and it is still a PCV valve (which is nothing more than a check valve anyways).

I went to a small autozone by me and couldn't find one..The place was a mess and missing quite a few pcv valves as far as I could tell looking at the rack.

Any chance when you go to the store you could get the part number and post it up here so I can order the part.

Thanks in advance. I really believe this will be a wide spread mod once the guys hear about this.

I'm not sure why one gentleman went with the 5/16's over the 3/8ths hose but if it works...Thats good enough for me.

Thanks again guys for the heads up.

Looking forward to getting the stock number of the pcv valve chosen.

Any word on which part number from autozone or should I just try pep boys?

The local autozone pcv wall setup looks like it was ravaged by a terrorist.

TIA.

I went to another autozone and the pcv valve they had with two nipples ...

One side is identical to what we have and the other side really requires a slighly bigger hose because the hose won't fully go on the nipple.

Did you guys just put the hose on the larger nipple partway or did you do something to get the 3/8 inch hose on the nipple.

Spray oil to lubricate it to get it all the way on?

Or did you find a pcv valve with the same size nipple on both sides?

Did you use a larger hose on one side with a reducer and a smaller hose on the other..

Sorry for all these dumb questions but I can't find what you guys are using.

TIA
