Default Cold/forced air induction

Ladies and Gentleman,
Forgive my ignorance but I need some advice. I recently purchased my first Z28( its an 02 M6 in case you're wondering). I'm looking into getting a forced air induction/cold air package. I've looked into the SLP air package. So here go my questions:
What brand/company should I go with?
Does the installation of said product need a mechanic/body shop or can I do it at home?
For the SLP package, do I need an SS hood?
Thanks for the helping a naive Camaro driver out!

That SLP kit is bolt-on.Instructions included and you can do it yourself with a couple basic handtools.Like a 30 minute job tops, with no experience at all.

You dont need any special hood.......I have the SLP lid and it fits just fine, others use the Whisper and MTI lids.I dont really know how good of a gain the whole cold-air kit is,but the lid is worth it.

The pain in the @ss,is the IAT and grommet.A little annoying, but not really a problem

Thanks for the fast reply. So I take it that SLP is a good way to go?

All you need is cold air. Get it the cheapest way possbile. No such thing as a ram air or forced air filter setup. Only way to get that effect is supercharger/turbo.
