Reasons for the skirt of a piston breaking?
My buddy has a built forged internals EVO IIIV and i cant figuer out why the skirt of a piston would break/shatter.... We were just cruzing at 75mph on the high way and POOFF!
The pistons are made by Ross, if that helps
any ideas?

Detonation will cause among other things ring lands to break on a piston, bent rods etc. I would think some things to look at (even though it's a computer controlled car)is your tune, fuel trim tables or possibly a bad injector. One of the piston manufacturers had a good description of improper combustion and the effects of, if I find it I'll try to post it.
