Default Dbl vs. Single Mcleod clutch

I was talking to my speed shop about the clutch for my LT T-56. It's a 383 with 10 psi of boost. I'm going to go with Mcleod and he recommended their single disc because the double clutch is said to be more unpredictable and hamper my 60 foot time. I'm more concerned about the drive-ability on the street though. Both would come with Hydraulics and are straight from Mcleod, not off the shelf.

Just wondering what other people experienced with them and any other recommendations. THanks!

FYI: their are two single disc. One is a 5500rpm disc the other a 7500rpm disc also called the performance single disc. I have the 7500 rpm disc and it's great on my RAM aluminium flywheel. No chatter at all and a firm but not too stiff pedal. Now your setup on slicks then I would go with the dual.

Good info. Have you ever run the dual setup?

I had the McLeod single with aluminum fly and didn't have any problems. I was making 390 rwhp at full weight doing 5500 dumps. I did sell it when I pulled my motor and am putting a twin disc in. Talked to McLeod and they recommended a twin for any track use so keep that in mind. Remember you get what you pay for!

The pedal is stiffer, but not bad unless you are in heavy traffic. Got stuck in traffic up in Chicago awhile ago and I thought my quad was going to cramp for an hour!

Haha, I know the feeling. Did you run their hydraulics too?

You should go with the twin disc. With a blower and the power you will be making you will want the extra clamping force and holding ability of the twin. I have the twin and love it. The shop tried to get me to go with a single but i said no.

My vette puts out 550/515 + at the wheels (Mustang Dyno) and the Street Twin handles that power with no problem. The pedal is a little stiff but it's no big deal. The car is not a DD,however, during the summer it see plenty of street use - wouldn't trade that clutch for any other on the market.
