Default cam question for CA emissions

Does anyone know if a 228/232-deg. 115-deg LSA will pass CA emissions?

thanks

Overlap is good but don't know if that duration will kill it. I'm sure all anyone can do is speculate.

I'm thinking you'd want more negative overlap with a cam that size.

I've got a 228/228 114LSA to put in my '02, and I plan to use Rhoads lifters to get through the smog check. These lifters should shorten up the duration in the rev area of the smog test and get me through.

What do you have for an exhaust system?

search for flash99's post a few months back about passing ca emmisions. although i do believe it was in a 6.0 goat, if i remember correctly, he had the same duration but on a 114lsa and passed, but barely.

If your tryin to pass smog still is that extra bit o duration really worth risking possibly having to pull the cam out at a later date? My theory is either keep it safe or go huge.. just my .02

Good theory. I think i'm going to just man up and get a cam that cant pass smog and try to work that out later.

I'm not standing up for someone who can't fight 'cause I'm sure he can defend himself, but sometimes you overstep yourself.

Check it before you wreck it.

hmm.... he doesnt have a texas giant cam, its my custom grind cam its similar to a texas giant but it is not a texas giant. you run flash in quarter, and see how far ahead he is........ mind you he does have alot more power then you, but that is what happens when you have alot more power, you will out mph a certian opponent, but not necessary out et them. any time you want run my jeep let me know .......... we will see how cocky you are after losing to a suv

p.s. he went 7.60's on the motor.

Ok well I apologize, he told me it was the texas giant cam. And I know there are plenty of faster cars, but when he has that much into and is only running that its pretty sad. and I am not cocky I know there are alot of faster cars, fact is their are alot of cars with waaay more going same speed or slower and I can say they are under performing because the bottom line is, they are. Hell I know a camaro with the same as what I have done to mine (different lid and exhaust) he has a 3k stall and stock gears full weight AC and everything going 12.0. No LTs stock manifolds and all. Fact is there are plenty of cars out there that are under performing, if pointing them out makes people upset, oh well, little motivation for em.

PS he went 7.60s on the turbo at best every time I saw him

And another thing, you talk about "under-performing"... you really are bench racing even if you have an over-performing stock internal car.

Apples to ******* oranges...
