Default DIY exhaust cutout?

is there a way to make a flang that you can open and close on a cutout. I see no point in spending $150+ on one if i can make it. Thanks

sure if you can make something similar to a throttle body opening, weld/bolt it all up and then attach a small motor to it so it can operate the flange, sounds like a breeeze to me....

I think this would be hard but seeing some of the other creations that have come out of LS1tech, you may never know....

it would have to be heavy duty due to the flow . manual or electric is traditional .

On one of the 1g DSM's I had, I used an old stock throttle body to make a cutout. Filled all the holes with jb weld, cut a flange to mount it to to go on the y-pipe I had made to put in place of the cat. Then just cut a hole in the floor for a choke cable I got at a lawn & garden store. It worked very well actually.

I never took any pictures when I made it, but I still have the car sitting (I use it as storage for parts for my s13 now) so I might be able to crawl underneath it this weekend and get some pics.

Are you serious? If you dont wanna spend $150 then just crawl under your car and manually uncap it. It would cost you more than $150 in parts if you think you can make one last and seal up. A throttle body is not a good idea when it does not seal all the way around. If it did cars would not idle.

Just drop the $30 on a cut out and weld it in.

They do make such a thing for $50 the only downfall is they only come in a 2in diameter. If they came bigger like 3in I would have one but I have looked before and all I can find is a 2in.
