When will the stock block pop?
I have searched for countless hours and cannot find the strait answer I am looking for.
I have an '01 WS6 and I want to stroke it up. I had my heart set on a 383 kit but the Lunati 408 caught my eye and now I'm wondering if it would be to much for the stock LS1 block to handle.
Who out there has stroked up and to what?
Long and short will a stock 2001 LS1 block with close to 67k miles on it hold up to a 408 stroker kit DD and beat the **** out of it at the strip?
For those wondering it will be accompanied by a set of AFR mongoose heads (either 205 or 225 depending on what I stroke it to), Full exhaust, FAST LSX intake with 90mm throttle body, SLP oil pump with double roller chain, and the cam is still pending. Naturally all of the necessary studs and bolts will be upgraded along with an ignition upgrade. If there is anything I missed fill me in.
And finally am I a crack head for wanting this setup to be my DD?

What kind of times are you wanting to run at the track, you do know that at 11.49 you will need a rollbar, not the most convenient thing for a DD.
It doesnt take that monster of a motor to run fast, if you want to stay above the 11.49 wall then you dont need a stroker
