Default Throttle Body...

I'm thinking about finally upgrading my throttle body. Are there any on the market without the coolant fittings? I have no intention of ever running coolant through my throttle body and hate the way un-used hose fittings look under the hood.

Most aftermarket ones, from my understanding are just the TBody, and you still use the bottom plate which holes your IAC. The dude I bought my 58mm had taken his IAC plate to a bandsaw and removed all the coolant passages. It looked a bit hacked, but not a thing was wrap. All it needed was some sand paper and a hit of spray paint to look absolutely brilliant.

My 58mm BBK required the stock bottom plate to be used. Pulled out the pipes then taped and put on pipe plugs, I think they were 1/4 NPT.

"biggest waste of money ever"

Exactly what is a waste of money here? Getting a larger throttle body?

is a larger throttle body actually worth getting on a stock motor? is port/polishing really worth doing?

no. However for the OP (definitely not a stock motor) it would be worth it.

I can confirm that the AS&M units come with their own IAC bottom plate, without any coolant passages.

Very trick pieces, top notch quality.

yep biggest waste of $300, put that $300 towards a stall, IMO money could be spent on something else that actually makes a difference. Speaking from Experience i dynoed with and without tb and ran the car every weekend didnt even pick up .5 or .5mph or 1hp from 52mm BBK TB on a bolt on car.

Well, obviously you didn't see much difference on a bolt on car. That is because the stock TB is not really any kind of restriction at that power level. However for a car making significantly more power than stock, a 58mm TB is a good mod because the stock TB starts to become a restriction at larger power levels. What might have been a waste of money in your case does not apply to everyone elses situation.

That said, to the OP: if you are really only making 347rwhp (that's pretty bad with a head/cam/intake package if so ) then you don't really need a larger one yet.

i wouldnt have expected to pick up .5 in the 1/4 with only swapping tb's

Correction. You'll gain quite a nice throttle response from it. I put a 58mm on a TPI motor that all that had done was a ported upper plenum. I noticed a gain from it.

For a lightly modded motor, I'd get a 52mm. It'd save you the porting of the intake.

HMMM, "only making 347rwhp (that's pretty bad with a head/cam/intake package"...

This is a 135,000 mile original block that had a blown head gasket and a crankcase full of coolant when I got my hands on it. Certainly, there's a lot of blow-by. The previous owner beat on it, hell, I beat on it. The car managed to turn 13.1 @ 107 at Englishtown and since then (and chassis dynoing) the car got full suspension upgrades, front and rear, the LTCC kit, the Mufflex exhaust and a new transmission that actually shifts. I'll say I might've picked up a few ponies with the exhaust and LTCC kit.

For what the short block's been through, the car runs remarkedly good, smokes the DR's well into 2nd gear even with the stock 3.23 posi (which I can't believe I haven't blown up yet)

As money allows, my next mod is a 12 bolt rear and then a 383 block. My goal is 450-500 at the wheels N/A.

The TB is not a huge amount of money, I can afford it now, it won't hurt the performance of my current setup and I can certainly use it with the new short block, hopefully next year.

Next week, the body shop'll fit it with a WS6 hood and fix a small oops in the quarter panel.

Thanks everybody for the help, I'll be getting that 58MM AZS&M TB.

That's cool dude, I was just sayin that cause earlier in the thread I said the TB would definitely benefit you but I just based that off of the mods I read in your sig, but then I noticed that you were only making that much which isn't really at the limits of the stock TB yet. But yeah, if you're going to be getting a new motor definitely get it cause it will help you out there.
