Critique my 383 build
Weber Racing is putting the finishing touches on my motor today. It should ship tomorrow and hopefully I will get it on Monday. I've been waiting for nearly four months (not Weber's fault) so I'm very anxious to get her installed and running! Everything has been well thought through and I expect some pretty stout numbers (track and dyno). Only thing I am a little concerned about is quench but I think I will be ok there also.
Here's all the info:
LS1 block
3.905 bore
3.910 head gasket bore
4.000 K1 stroke crank
6.125 K1 light weight rods
-8.8cc Wiseco custom pistons
-0.014 PTD height
0.054 stock head gaskets
58cc ETP 225 heads w/ 2.080 and 1.570 valves
FTI 237/241, .632/.612, 113 LSA, 109 ICL
So quench is going to be .040, SCR is 11.51 and DCR is 8.67. Should be a good combo for street/strip use, right?
Stock bottom end with these same heads and cam made 443/400 SAE corrected. That was through a TH350, 8" converter and a 12 bolt with 4.10 gears! Not to mention I had valve train issues! Unfortunately I never got to run that setup at the drag strip for several reasons but a 10.4 or 10.3 seemed likely considering the car went 10.85 with exactly 40 less horsepower and torque.
Now with more cubes I am hoping for 475 rwhp and low low 10's at the strip.

Also, I should have some solid dyno data on some American Racing Headers. The plan is to first tune and dyno the car with my current exhaust system, 1-3/4" FLP long tubes into 3" true duals with x-pipe. Then I am going to swap it out with a brand new set of ARH 1-7/8" long tubes into 3-1/2 to 4" ORY into a 4" Magnaflow muffler. I am hoping to gain at least 10 rwhp while maintaining rwtq. We'll see though.

I'd keep the true duals and X-Pipe and just run the AMH 1-7/8" with 3" collectors. I'd even look at Kooks 1-3/4" to 1-7/8" Stepped headers as well.
Also, I'd go with a 4.030" bore gasket to match your heads, so if you wanted to keep GM gaskets, just get some for the 6.0L or LS2. Or, Cometic .051" or .054" that are 4.030" would work.

My 383 has more torque from down low through the mids but several 346s with same heads and cam have only a few less hp than I do.Im still running a ls6 intake with stock tb and 75mm maf. They say the long stroke really suffers without a fast 90 90 setup. One day I will have the extra cash to get it

same boat as you CHAD ROCK... i also think the 4.030 bore gasket will be better... when the block gets hot...aluminum expands.... i wouldnt want my gaskets to get in the way.. thats why i went with the 4.030 bore gaskets... my engine builder reccomened them
