Default Those with the 8-Rib SDCE setup

Are you using the stock balancer with their kit or an ATI balancer? Why upgrade to the ATI? The ATI balancer is pretty pricey.

I have used it both ways, originally with the stock and then went to the ATI. Either will need to pinned/keyed unless you are running 8psi or less on a stock engine and it still may loosen.

ATI pulley is SFI approved (need it for 10.99 or faster) and has no rubber bonding to deteriorate and fall apart, plus its indexed for timing and you can use other SBC 3 bolt drive adapter with it. It is most likely more effective as a torsional damper across a wider RPM range then the stocker but i doubt you see or feel anything because of it on a street car.

Never had an issue with the stock damper (3/16 machined keyway) running well into the 9s. Switched to the ATI damper for safety/tech reasons and never had any issues either. Just make sure to properly tighten the bolt on the crank and pin or key the stock balancer/crank (ATI damper needs to be keyed as well) and it should be fine unless it a race car and needs an SFI damper.

I have both as well. And like kp, I need the ATI damper on my Formula for the SFI factor. My T/A I will keep stock until I need it (which I do have one for it too.)

I know. I think I'm gonna get the normal setup and worry about the ATI later if needed.

I have the SDCE 8 rib setup on my car. Started out with the stock balancer. The three locating pins in the SDCE crank pully came out and the pully spun inside the balancer backing the crank bolt out and the balancer came off...

Needless to say i ordered an ATI balancer the next day and havent had a single problem since.

I would very very highly recomend spending a few extra dollars on a good balancer. Its deff good insurance.
