Default Clunking noise at Deceleration

I have a 2002 Z28 with a 2500 stall. Every time I let off the gas I hear this clunking noise coming from around the transmission area. It may be trans, may be driveshaft, may be somethin else. I have no idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your suspension for any rattles, movement, or loose bolts. I had a similar problem, turned out to be a broken Torque Arm, and it was really hard to see.

I had the same problem. Although, I couldn't drive it after it started clunking.

In the past day I've taken apart the entire rear end. I found the problem was because the bolt that holds the pinion to the u-joint got loose and the pinion gear started to run into the posi housing inside the differential...

If I were you I would get under your car and wiggle the driveshaft to see if there is any play. Also, look for any oil leaks or anything out or the ordinary. If you don't find anything, open the differential by removing the back plate (10 bolts or so depending..). Good luck

Ive also been told thats a symptom of a bad TA mount. But at any event, start there before you go tearing into the rear end.

Thanks guys, I am headed out to get under the car now. Keep the responses coming...

*EDIT* I noticed my Torque Arm mount near the trans is split at the bottom. Is this normal or should it be connected?

Well just got back from under the car. All the TA bolts were tight and there was normal slack in the driveshaft.

I think the stocker is one piece, but mine was was trashed when I pulled it out, so its an assumption, the poly one I replaced it with was all one enclosed piece. How about the trans mount?
