LS9 Supercharger

LS9 Supercharger
I havent been able to find out much info on the LS9, but from what I gather it is going to be a 6.2 Supercharged LS9 making over 600hp. Cool. But what I am most concerned with is the supercharger. Will chevy do like they did with the L92 heads and L76 intake kit and sell it (the supercharger) for dirt cheap too? And by dirt cheap I mean close to the way the L92s are priced in comparison to aftermarket heads... like $700 vs $1200 or $1500. So does anyone think that Chevy will let the supercharger go for in the high $3k or $4k mark?
No matter what the supercharger assembly will be a replacement part, and a counter man should be able to put a finger on it. I would be very angry if a replacement supercharger was any more than $3k. But we'll see.
The only thing that I see that would be an upfront requirement to run the blower is the heads that the LS9 will use, or at least something with the same port design.
The thought occured to me when I started pricing blower kits, and they were $6500. Thats $2000 less than what I paid for my whole car, and theres no way I could justify dropping that kind of cash... no matter how sweet. But if GM was to price their blower reasonably then I could see a sponsor taking on the task of assembling a kit. If it were in the $4k range then I might have to be all over it!

Awesome, Ed. I know its hard to say since the LS9 is still pretty secretive, but does anyone forsee any problems getting that blower to work on an any ol' LSx? The only thing that I can see is the head design, and it would probably have to be a 6.0 block or bigger since, correct me if Im wrong, but most of the new heads wont fit on a 3.89 bore.

Aren't LS2 heads just 243 heads anyway...aka LS6 heads?
No, what I was refering to was the L92 style head that requires a 4" bore because the intake valve is too big. Try puting a set of those on a 3.89" block. Thats why there was a group of people asking for chevy to make a set of those heads for the LS1 block. What concerns me is the fact that the LS9 is a 6.2, and the L92 is too. Well, the only intake manifold that I know of that will work with the L92 heads is the L76 intake. Maybe the 6.2 LS9 will be a PITA too where the only N/A intake that will work would be the L76... and the same would be true for the blower, only LS9 or L92 heads. Now, I have no clue that any of my assumptions are anywhere near right, but I think that its in the realm of possibilities.

Okay, well I believe that we will see the ZR1 corvette come out in 2009, so maybe late this year. Lets all cross our fingers that the OEM replacement blower will be as dirt cheap as L92 heads compared to other aftermarket heads. If this is the case, then we need to stay on top of what will be required to use it, i.e. heads, block, TB, routing, pullies, etc.
If this does happen I hope we can see someone like SLP or another sponsor put together a blower kit that covers all bases. If, however, the blower OEM replacement part is only about $2000 and someone makes a complete kit that costs $5500 then I hope they realize that they missed the point. Aftermarket blower kits cost about 80% of the total value of our cars. I see a problem with that, and I hope that a much cheaper option might exist in the future.
Lets stay on top of this!

There is no 2.1l Eaton TVS blower. The LS9 will be using the R2300 which is a 2.3l blower. It is the same blower that Ford lists in their catalog as the upgrade blower for the GT500 and is standard on the Super Snake. It also is listed at around 6k I believe and that is just the blower with no I/C upgrade etc.... I am interested to see how GM prices it.
