Default 9" rear end opinions needed!

I have a 95 lt1 A4 TA and the rear just died on me . I have been researching rear ends and I came across a 9" made by caprio motor sports. Does anyone have any experience with this company and what are your opinions?

Contact Bob@EPP and he'll take good care of your needs. Second to none customer service.

Don't think caprio MS is a sponsor here

He didn't ask if they sponsor the site. He asked if anybody has had experience with them.

I haven't heard anything on them, but am always glad to learn. Any info is appreciated as well.

I did some research on Chris @ Caprio. It looks like in 2006 Chris was a good guy to work with. I liked the idea of buying a rearend from a guy locally... but then I ran across some pretty damning threads in a Google search:

May 2007 -- https://ls1tech.com/forums/gears-axles/617677-caprio-9-12-bolt.html

I ordered their Ford 9" setup from Ebay. I paid over $2668+ for the setup with detroit true trac and 3+4 channel ABS, 3.73 gears, etc...bolt in for f body 98 camaro ss. As soon as I made payment, his website was taken down, his phone was cutoff and I was contacted by someone else who was also ripped off by this guy. I am out the money I spent as of today. The Illinois State Police and the FBI are currently involved and are investigating this guy. I will wait to see what happens. I just got an email from him offering to refund my money. I will believe it when I see the money in my account. The authorities can be quite convincing when they want to be!!
In the above quote, "anthasis" is referring to an ebay transaction where he purchased a rearend in May and never got it. Chris responded shortly thereafter saying that the order was screwed up and he subsequently issued a full refund. Not sure who to believe on this one

Feb 2007 -- http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/af...torsports.html

Well, I ordered my 9" Rear with a Locker and 4.10's for Chris and Caprio Motorsports about a month ago. The Payment went through paypal on January 12th, and just yesturday I got a few pieces of my rear end, unassembled delivered to my house.

It was all supposed to be delivered, assembled, to my Mechanic and should have only taken 2 weeks. Meanwhile, Chris is impossible to get in touch with, i spoke with him maybe 3 times out of the 20 i've called, and wasn't a pleasure to work with. Still waiting on a differential and gears to show up. Who knows if they will.

Bought mine elsewhere. I got to pick and chose the componets I wanted for mine. (I got a Moser houseing and 35 spline axles set up for 4 channel with exciter rings installed, Strange pro nodular case with detroit locker, Motive performance 4.30 gears) Delivered to my doorstep for $2550. Customer service was top notch and had everything within 4 business days. Will be installing on tuesday.

And there you go, WHY WE RECOMMEND YOU ALWAYS DO BUSINESS WITH THE BOARD SPONSORS.

You see if you support our sponsors who also happen to have awesome deals and there is a "snag" in the transaction then we as board admin/moderators can then get involved and help the member get the transaction resolved.

Support a nonsponsor and have a bad deal, then you are effectively on your own PERIOD.

And yes I have no buying experience with that guy, but I did have a great transaction on buying a Moser 9(quite a few other parts too) from Bob@EPP, his customer service was second to none before and after the sale. Hence the recommendation.

Don't know why some of you guys think we get paid by this site or sponsors when we tell you to support em. If I have a good experience with a sponsor then you can guarantee that i'll try to send people their way.
