Default 6 Liter Accesories HELP

I'm about to purchase an 06 6 liter with 19,000 miles but it doesnt come with accesories. I would like to use the camaro or firebird accesories to get the alternator from up top and my question is this. Will the truck accesories work if I get a camaro/firebirds brackets or do I have to get camaro/firebird accesories and brackets to make it all work? I've done a search but couldn't find this answer anywhere.

This motor will have a carb and I know it will work with the truck acc drive system but I hate that alternator being right in the middle.

Any help is appreciated, Lee

The truck accys will not fit in f-body brackets. The water pump, alternator, PS pump, and A/C compressor are all different.

You cannot mix and match, the offsets are different between each breed. For example, I could not run my truck crank pulley with the the F-body alternator mount. I ditched the truck brackets due to fact I did not need P/S or A/C, and had to buy a new waterpump/alt bracket/ crank pulley and tensioner.

I have all F-body accesories on my 5.3.

Well thats exactly what I wanted to know. I knew that accessories off the 5.3 and 5.7 would fit but wasnt sure if I could do any mixing with car and truck acc.

Do ya'll know if the bolts are different lengths since the alignment is different between the models. I'm assuming it would be since everything else is different but just thought I'd get an assurance on that.

Thanks guys I appreciate the quick responses. Lee

I saved all the bolts from the truck stuff, and had no issues when I got the F-body stuff. Waterpump bolts are the same, so no worry there. The alternator will work with the F-body stuff, but you will have to drill and tap 1 place on the 6.0 block for the bracket to mount to.

babyduece do you mean the truck alt will work with fbody acc and you have to drill and tap it with this. Or is it when you put all fbody acc on the 6 liter that you need to drill and tap it. I have none of the acc and when I pick up the motor I'm gonna tell them all what acc I need. Thanks again!!!

The truck alternator in combination with the F-body mount will fit the block, and line up fine with an F-body crank pulley.

In order to use the F-body alt mount, you must drill and tap the top mount hole on your 6.0 block. It is really simple.

Pic of my 5.3...look at the top mount of the alternator bracket. On the iron block engines, there is no hole there, you must drill and tap it.

Hope that clears up some confusion

Or you can use the alternator relocation kit that Smokinhawk sells and you don't have to redrill anything. $65 and it's out of the way, up on the passenger's side head.

Make sure you tell him its an iron block, so he sends you the right bracket...

Well I picked up the engine today and realized theres not alot of room for all the front accesories. Since the f body acc pulleys dont line up, then does that mean I could get more room in front by usuing a different setup than the truck acc. If so how much are we actually talking about 1-2 inches or less between the different acc drives. Thanks, Lee

The truck acc are farther out than the F-body and corvette. If you want a list from longest to shortest, it would look like this:

1. Truck(2.25")
2. F-body(1.00")
3. Vette(.600")
Measurement are approx from the front cover to the rear of the crank pulley. Now figure that the "groove" sections of the pulleys are the same between the 3, and you can see that the Vette is the shortest.
