Default My 04 GTO Race build...

Well I dropped the car off at the shop to get started.

The plans for the car are back to what they were originally when the car was going to go to Stenod except I have a local shop doing it for me.

For starters I want to thank the shop for taking on such a big project with little to no notice at all. I went over the car with the fellas and about a week later I dropped it off so they could get started. The shop doing the car is Transmission Physicians in Tampa Florida. Don't let the name fool you, these guys do sick custom fabrication!

Tranmission Physicians and crew will be doing the build...

September 14, 2007:

Car dropped off at Transmission Physicians - trailered the car in from Jax Thursday night.

The car is completely tore apart with only interior carpet, dash, door panels and a custom Moser 9" SRA in the car. Nothing else!!! The wheel well are still cut out and have yet to be welded back in after adding the additional space for the mini-tubs, the motor is out of the car, the TH400 is out of the car, and the interior is mostly guttted along with no front bumper on the car.

Fernando (Transmission Physicians owner) has got his hands full with my car.

Pictures to follow...

This is how I dropped the car off...
The SRA conversion... complete other than the custom sway bar thats being made!

Interior loaded with boxes of parts...

Wheel wells opened up...

Empty engine bay...

Update: 10 - 17 - 07

The engine bay has been emptied of every accessory that we do not need along with all of the brake lines and all other lines. The main wiring harness will be coming out of the car next.

The engine bay is painted and the 408 is in the car along with the new solid motor mounts! Next step is getting the Twin GT42R turbos here and begin fabbing the manifolds up!

Now for the pictures...

Just a small update. Here's a picture of the new custom radiator. They did a real nice job on it. We needed something that was a bit shorter so we could put in our intercoolers.

Here's a picture of the radiator in the car. We need to make some custom brackets for it.

here's a pic of the radiator next to the stock one. It's quite shorter.

We had the rear end narrowed and we got it back in the car. The deeper wheels looks cool. These are the "street" tires. 325/50/15 radials.

The SRA conversion and entire underside of the car has been painted and cleaned up now, so it no longer shows all that rust. The turbos arrived today so now I need some flanges jbends and collectors and Fernando can get started with fabbing up the custom TT kit!

Curiosity: If you are changing/modifying from stock irs to sra, since you are no longer stock suspended, why not back-half and 4-link it? Technically you now have an f-body rear susp. setup, pretty much.

Only a legitimate question for a future build of my own, not a bust out. If cost was a factor, please break it down for me.

Thanks

Money wasnt the issue... It was the fact that we had to do al of this on jackstands in my garage with a group of friends. The SRA was not done by a shop! And the torque arm setup should be fine and if something comes apart i will tear it out and rebuild it as a 4link!
