A body oil pan clearance
I got a 64 chevelle and Im getting ready to drop in a 5.3 with S&P mounts and was wondering if the truck pan will clear the crossmember on it. I heard that the F body pan should clear but I dunno about the truck one.

Autokraft is a reasonable solution also. A little more money but you get to keep the oil filter in stock location. The moroso pan is cheap, but then you get the pickup its adds up to $300, then the cost of a good remote filter. The auto kraft is $425 but packaged well.

When I was fitting my motor in the chassis, I didnt have my Canton pan yet, and the stock 6.0 pan just touched the crossmember. The sump does hang low, but if you were not going to lower it, it my be okay. You would need to put a 1/4" spacer under the motor mounts on the frame to clear the engine crossmember. I have seen a 70 Chevelle with the truck pan, so I know it works.

no my car is gonna be a low clearance ride pro touring style. Having a remote mount is no prob, I actually have a few from my aircooled vw drag racing days so that and an oil cooler are already in my parts stash. so the moroso it is for me. 125 cheaper than the autocraft (which is a nice lookin pan) and gives me extra oil without ground clearence issues.

not sure how much diff the 64-5 frames are from the 68-72, i know they use diff frame mounts, but on my 69 i used a caddy cts pan, $150, hooker headers and hooker motor mount conversion-hookers push the engine up a tiny bit and back-i know the p/s head ends up 1 1/2" from the firewall-the hookers fit perfect, plenty of ground clearance-i use the corvette acces drive so i can run the rev procharger
