Default DO I need to grind my timing cover for rollermaster double chain?

I have heard from a member here that he had to grind his timing cover in 5 different spots because his rollermaster double timing chain was hitting it. Is this true. I put my cover on today after i installed the chain and tightened 3 blots down not to spec but to mount the cover flush, and turned the engine over once and I could not hear anything and there were no marks left on the inside if the cover.

i have a roll master double and im also running a melling pump. when i bought the engine the stock oil pump was installed along with the spacers no problem. i added the melling pump and ended up trashing my front cover from grinding too much. ended up getting another off ebay and grinding both the oil pump and the new cover. finally got it to fit.

i used some silly putty and a file. only had to grind one spot on the cover. sorry no pics. make sure you use the spacers with the roll master.

Your best bet is to put the cover on with no gasket and see if it rocks back and forth,if it does on the back side you will see where it is hitting.Grind down a litttle at a time untill it does not hit any more. Then reinstall with gasket.

I used shallow head slotted bolts on the oil pump cover. Cleared fine, no cover mod.

I just installed the N-Motion double roller with an ls6 pump and my cover is hitting so i will have to grind. Is the little raised section of the cover around the balancer seal where you guys are grinding only or where else? Some pics would be great!

Right now on mine its looking like the timing cover is hitting the oil pump bolts, the actual bolts in the pump so im going to go out and try to get some low profile bolts like screwdriver or allen key or something and maybe i wont have to grind at all

Do the Ported Ls6 pumps and the rollmaster double chain from tsp hit on the timing cover as bad as the melling pump?

mine hit pretty bad...rollmaster and stock oil pump...had to grind in 3 places...to see if you need to grind place it up there with a gasket if it is flush you are golden if not better start grinding...fyi one of my grind spots was the top raised semicircle it was hitting the timing chain
