Default My car started running really hot in the afternoon 235*

I threw this two codes: PO410 AIR System and P1637 Generator L-Terminal Circuit.

I don't know if there's a connection or if it's just coincidence but they did throw at the same time.

The P1637 code happened when the engine was off??
I've noticed that the battery charge runs low at times (I installed a new factory alternator and better battery as a result with no change).
Also my temperature during the day seems to be higher than it should be . . . I have a 160 Thermo with my fans set low (first stage on at 180 and second stage on at 185 - run like this for ~8K miles). I have 46K miles on my Firehawk now . . . could the age of my car's fans be affecting the temp? Or, what I fear, is this Generator circuit code screwing with my fans??
Regardless, what is the source of this code and fix?

I tried to give as much info as possible, sorry if it sounds jumbled.

Thanks!

check the electrical plugs to the electric fans...one of my connectors was unpluged and caused BOTH fans to stop working....

indeed... turn the car on, turn on AC, and look for both fans to be running.

That wont necessarily find an intermmitent issue, but its a start...

check the connectors, including the altenator. I had a weak voltage and just having the altenator checked and reinstalled solved the problem.

Something simple to check would be to see if any trash has flew up in front of the radiator. It's real easy for a bag or something similiar to fly up there and block part of the radiator.

Thank you for replying guys

Would a bad connection on the alternator cause the Generator code?

Could trash in front of the radiator cause this code?

Update:

I got into the car and tried to start her for the first time today and it would not crank

I made repeat attempts 4 more times and I would turn the key with no response (all the gauges and electrical worked, just no cranking).

I pulled the key out and attempted to auto-start with my alarm remote (my alarm system has this feature). It cranked right up
I put the key in, shut her down, and attempted a re-start using the key; it cranked right over this time.

A friend who is a tech at a Pontiac dealership told me that there are a couple of wires in the steering wheel column which aid in reading the chip in our keys that often go bad. But he said that this would not throw the 1637 code.

He then told me that this code relates to the power source for the alternator. He's gonna do a check on this code when their computers are up. They don't keep any thing on paper anymore . . . just my luck.

I don't think trash in front of the radiator would throw any codes but, it could cause the car to run hot.

I just said it in case the codes and car running hot were a coincidence.

It's possible I guess I didn't see anything there from up top but I'm gonna throw her up on a lift in an hour and check all the connections and see if there's any debris.
