6.0L to th400
hey, im looking for some info. im putting a 6 liter into my 65 skylark. i have a th400 laying around. i want to know what the conversion is to connect the two. i really appreciate the help. also, is there a good, reasonable, stand alone system to run the engine with out the factory computer? also, any intake other than the L-76 to run? ( i know you have to run the L-92 heads).

what year 6.0L?
Is the TH400 the BOP (Buick-Olds-Pontiac) bolt pattern or Chevy? you'll need the chevy bellhousing to work behind the 6.0L.
You should have a flat flex plate, which will let the torque converter pilot rest inside end of the crank or adaptor when the bolt pads touch the flex plate. This is important for proper alignment of everything.
You may have to drill the flex plate for the smaller pattern on the TH400 converter. If you're TH400 has a heavy duty converter with 6 pads, it may line up with out drilling.
Other then that, TH400 bolts up.
Might try a search..i'm sure there is lots of info about TH400 on Gen III's on this forum.

Why do you want to run the engine without the computer? It seams that this would be the easiest way, you of course would need to program out some things but I don't know why you would want to do something different.
