Default PRC Stage 1.0 LS6 CNC Ported Heads with a 224/112lsa?

i got the 224r cam from tsp, and i am full bolt ons in an m6 firebird, i put down 382 and 373 on a mustang dyno, i am very pleased.. i was wondering if these heads (PRC Stage 1.0 LS6 CNC Ported Heads) would compliment my cam well. Also what is needed for the swap over, i know the heads come completely assembled, but for springs over 600 lift its an additional like 200$, i was wondering if i could use my comp 918 springs(they are the good batch) anything else id need for the swap? any input is greatly appreciated.

Why do you need over .600" of lift with a cam that lifts .581" on intake and exhaust?
Are you running differ rocker ratio or planning on a bigger cam down the road?

i was just wondering if everything could just be swapped from the ls1 heads over to the ls6 thats all, i was unsure if i need to use different components, also what else would i need for the swap, i.e. gaskets, bolts etc etc...

I think he is asking since his cam only has .581 and doesn't need the springs that are good to .600 if he can use the 918 springs which are good to .600 anyway, so yes the 918s will work just fine if they arent worn out yet.

Depends, did you use new OEM head bolts and gaskets? Some people reuse the OEM MLS gaskets and some like to get new ones, graphites can't be used again. The TTY bolts are a one time use deal and ARPs can be reused.

Yes, new gaskets and bolts, (if you have the stockers on there now). Check ls1howto.com

keep me informed screaminbird99!!

Im looking at the exact same setup of the 224r cam (114lsa though) and stage 1 LS6 heads.

Im pretty sure it should put you well over the 400RWHP with a good tune?

Oh and as stated above, yes i would use new bolts and gaskets

Swapping heads is a lot of work. If I was you I would pay a few more $$ and get the stage II heads.

Like stated above, those heads will be a nice addition to your car! BUT, since you'll have plenty of piston to valve clearance with that camshaft in there, I'd look at the Stage 2.5 5.3L heads as well. With the extra valve in there and smaller combustion chambers from that head, you stand to gain around 5-10rwhp more!

But again, either would be a great match to that camshaft

If budget is an issue you can get the LS6/LS2 243 heads, run a .040 gasket and that will net you a 62cc chamber with excellent quench.
If the 5.3L come with 2.02/1.57 valves there is only a ~5 cfm difference in flow vs 243s. The smaller chamber effect with the tight gasket will offset that.
Also since the stock valves are lighter than the stage 2.5 valves the use of the 918s is totaly the way to go with lighter effective moving valvetrain mass.
just food for thought.

i think what he was saying abut the springs was that i think those heads come basic with springs good up to the low .500" lift....you have to upgrade to bigger springs if you want to run a decent cam...which is the $200 upgrade.

but since he HAS the springs already...he can get the base head...and swap spring himself.

am i right or way off base? i looked at those heads today...that's why i say this.
