I'm not convinced it is worth it, unless you were changing to an aftermarket rear (in which case, yes I'd take the 3.73s).
I have 3.23s and a 3600 stall. It 60's a 1.59 with current mods...I do not see it leaving any harder than it already does, and if it did, it seems like the gain (.05-.1) would be minimal considering cost and possible risk. Just my .02

keliente has an opinion and I don't think he's to far off, if at all. Let me know if and when you cut a 1.4 from the gear change. Gears, full install kit, labor, and a new cover that has the bearing support (if you don't already have one), doesn't come cheap. Maybe if you had 2.73 gears, but 3.23s aren't that bad. Just my opinion, and yes I have 3.73s in the stock rearend.

I've wanted to switch to 3.73's for a while but after all the research I've done on the forum and comparing my times against similarly modded cars with 3.73's I decided not to.
The swap might make the car feel faster, but the gains at the track aren't very significant after already having a stall. You would probably pick up 1 mph or 2 at best. If you really want to swap gears, save the money till you replace the rear end. There are a lot better things to spend the few hundred bucks on.

If it gains 1-2 mph and 1-2 tenths, isnt that what moding is all about?

btw, it's more like 1 mph and then maybe 1 tenth if your lucky with like a 3500+ stall. On a stock converter it's a lot more, like 2-3 tenths and 2-3 mph. I think it would be worth the swap if you don't plan on doing a converter ever.
On another note, if nothing else, going to a 3.73 gear would tighten up the feel of the converter.

That's all I'm saying...if he was getting an aftermarket rear, I'd say yes 3.73...if he was coming from 2.73 I'd be like, hell yeah, do the 3.73s. But I do not believe the gain is worth the money coming from a 3.23. Or rather there are better things out there for the $$.
