I'd like to trade the T/A - What do you guys think?
I've had my Trans Am for a while now and I'd like to move on and get a Camaro. Do you guys think I could trade it for a M6 Z28 or SS coupe w/ less than 100k miles? I'm just trying to see where I stand on trades. Here's the link for my T/A: https://ls1tech.com/forums/vehicles-sale-lsx-powered-only/878999-gauging-interest-1998-trans-am-convertible-trades.html

Seems like going to a Camaro coupe would be a step down.
Unless your heart is set on having a coupe or M6, I wouldn't bother. I mean, a Camaro is basically the same car, just not quite as nice. And it looks like a really nice T/A to me. Great wheels, too. As far as I know, they don't make them like that. If you DO sell/trade it, you might want to put the stockers back on and sell those.
You might luck out and find someone that really wants a ragtop, then you might be able to make an even trade. But if you do it through dealer, you'll probably lose money. They're not out to trade cars straight up, so they'll probably lowball you on the trade in value. Unless you luck out and find a dealer that wants it for himself.
Good luck!

For some reason to me Camaro's never seem as nice interior wise as T/A's.....my buddies 93 had steering wheel radio controls hell my 98 or 99 didn't. lol Seats are alot niver also etc.,

For some reason i'd rather have my camaro over ANY firebird or t/a. Good move, especially the SS. Much more rare of a car than a WS6 - not to mention a regular trans am or z28.
DO it!

I know Trans Am's are a little nicer, but I've never had a 4th gen Camaro. I've had a couple T/A's and I just think it's time for a change. Plus, I kinda want to be back in a M6. I traded my '99 cammed M6 T/A for the 'vert and I kinda wished I wouldn't have now.

You got lucky! I can't find deals like that! I paid $10,500 for my '99 with 77k on it and I thought that was good. You can't hardly find a decent coupe around here, much less a 'vert for under 10k.

I have the A4 in my Formy, sometimes I wish I had found a M6 car first. The A4 CAN get a little boring at times. When I bought it I didn't have much of a preference, I was mainly looking at miles/price/condition. If I had found a nice M6 car first, that's what I'd be in.
As far as rarity, maybe it's just my area, but I see more SS's than WS6's.
But who cares about rarity.... you want rarity, buy a aniversary edition, or a Formula.

I say go for it if you're set on it. Personally I like Firebirds, kinda biased. I have nothing against Camaro's though. If a mint SS came along yea I'd go for it. I think the price you're looking for is fine. I doubt you'll find a low mileage car for that price so you'll probably have to trade + cash or sell the TA and use the money from the sale plus some more to find a nice car.
Either way good luck.

Car looks nice with those wheels, Im not too fond of convertibles though but do what you want. I like both 4th gen T/As and maros. I dont think youll be able to trade staright across for a Z28 or SS though, not unless you find someone thats a diehard convertible fan......goodluck

The Camaro's interior sucks. An SS is not NEARLY as rare as a WS.6. A Trans Am is worth more than the equivalent Z28.
You should be able to trade laterally with no loss at all if you're priced in the market, which you're not. If I wanted your car I wouldn't pay more than 8 for it. A4, over 100k, 'vert - a clean car won't overcome the facts.
Find somebody to trade straight up with. It should be easy.

And weight. Over the Z28, the only advantage a TA has is a better interior.
I've seen many of those same girls and soccer moms putting around in a Firebirds. This is a stupid reason to stay away from a car.
I love TA interiors MUCH more than Camaros. Not to mention a large majority of highschool girls have a v6 camaro.

yeah, maybe it's just the area I live, but I see v6 camaros all day long, z28s, but mostly pre 98's, and way more camaro ss's than I ever see even standard t/a's. I only know of one other guy within 100 miles of me with a ws6, and I think his is just a t/a with a hood because it just doesnt look right. Whatever you choose though, hope you get a good deal.
