Default cam help needed

Ok guys i had a good shop that works on lt1 and ls1 cars here local to me put in a cc503 cam. From the cars that i have seen that he has done he does great work! He put the cam in my car and i drove it for a day and the topend started ticking and it lost oil pressure. I took the car back to him he pulled the motor and the cam has eaten the gear off of the oil pump drive. Hows this possible anyone ever had this problem? I called comp they said they havent heard of this problem. He has done this cam in other cars and theres are fine. I just done understand what went wrong with mine. Any help will be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance.

sounds like maybe the install was done improperly. I've never heard of that either.

I had the same problem with mine. And I do not know what could have done it either. I just noticed mine today when I was going to put the motor back together.

Ok I talked to a machinest today and he said the reason why my gear got chewed up was because I had a high volume pump. He said that all the extra volume creates a lot of extra load on the gear and causes the cam to eat up the drive gear. The guy told me to use a factory volume pump.
