Default Why are my new brakes squeaking?!?

I just spent 1300 for new breaks, rotors and pads on my 2001 TA and they will not stop squeaking! I have put about 300 miles on the new parts so far. Do they need some time to break in or should I find a new mechanic?

Some compounds squeak more than others, but if the slider pins
are sticky or you have air in the lines you can get some residual
drag that is like the old finger on champagne glass trick.

$1300? did you purchase a BBK. As mention before trying using a silicon compound pn your pins, pad bonding plate, & caliper pistions. If you are using aggressive pads then they have a tendency to be squeaky at times.

Well I got into a little scuffle with a new Mustang GT on the way home from work yesterday. We did 3 runs from about 50-85 (I beat him by 2+ cars in all three runs) and I broke hard on each run. Now my brakes are squeaky free. Guess they had to be broken in some, thanks for all your responses.

RotorsOnline, I couldn't tell you what brakes I had put on, but they were the cheapest ones my mechanic offered me. I really didnt shop around any and hope I didnt get ripped off The other brakes offered were factory for $1600

why would you need new hubs when changing the brakes?

I had to replace one once on my LT1 but the ABS sensor had gone bad.
