Default A.I.R. stands for

Was looking at an lt-1 that had the A.I.R. on it. Now the previous owner took it off on my car so what does it do. Just geussing i figured it dealt with emmissions

Its an emmissions thing. It is a small air pump that puts fresh air into the exhaust for the first 2 mins or so after start up to help the cat reach operating temperature.

And I thought it stood for Air Intake Recirculation heh Seeing as it pumps the air back into the intake. Oh well, mines gone who cares LOL

if i take the air pump assy off with i get a check engine light?
will the car run better or worse?

The car will run the same with or without it. Not better nor worse. I didn't pop codes with my air delete.

so with no cat on my car...it's doing absolutely nothing? guess thats comin off with the egr when the new headers go on!

Mine didn't RUN better, but it sure as **** idled 100x better. Felt like a new car, was very weird.
