Default Low oil pressure on 2000 camaro v-6

Well my friends 2000 camaro v-6 started making a ticking sound at start up, and his oil pressure was lower than normal. So we changed the oil pump, timing chain, and all gaskets, and the oil pressure is still low!!!!

Pressure is normally below 60 psi when the car is running and it only goes to the second dash on idle. Im not sure what the normal pressure is for v-6 camaros. What else could be the problem? bad sensor? fuses?

Mine just did that. Tapping noise, oil pressure dropped from the previous 12 o'clock position to 10. I had spun a rod bearing.

Could also be lifter possibly. It is a higher-pitched ticking or a lower-toned tapping?

Could be a lifter then. I'd take it to a good mechanic who knows this stuff and can tell what it probably is by the sound, he'd be able to tell you which it is. Although, my car did the lifters first, then the rest of the motor went 2 months later...

its a 3.8, they were prone to wear the rod bearings out, very typical problem, sounds like the motor is shot.

Never heard of that, I've heard the 3800 series II 3.8L is usually a solid motor.

Normal for a 3.8 is somewhere around 12 o clock at idle, though slightly lower is not unacceptable. What does it read under load...at cruise?

I would swap in a new pressure sender and see what it reads..to begin with anyhow. Failure of those is not unheard of.
