Default Putting the cam in tomoro

Hey i am putting the MTI-R1 in the new car tomoro. I am using the guide on LS1howto to help me through it along with chiltons book and good ole common sence. Any tips?

Did any of you guys use magnets to hold up the lifters? or just pray that they didnt fall?

i need both sizes? 5/16 and a 1/4 or just one or the other? Thats a good idea. And just slide them in the holes on the frount of the engine right?

I used the wooden dowel rod too. When I did my first cam swap I just followed that write up and had no issues. Let us know how it goes

Dude I've done 9 ls1 cam swaps now and not once used magnets/rods or whatever. I was lucky so far. But for me in the future I will use the rods.. better safe than sorry, I just don't follow my own advice.lol.

I went with metal dowel rods. Why? Because they can roll around in my tool box and I dont have to worry about them, plus I could grind the tips down to a point so they would slide in better, and I ground a flat spot all the way down each one. Mine were tight going in for some reason, but with the flat spots ground in it wasnt a problem.

Make sure you use a new crank bolt. Also, now is the time to do under drive pullies, and if you have an additional $200 get a 2piece timing cover from edelbrock. It would make it so you wouldnt have to take the balancer off to change the cam out if you decided to get another one later.

[QUOTE=KurtRardin;9215679] Also, now is the time to do under drive pullies, QUOTE]

Quick question.......what does changing the underdrive pullies do for you?? Does is add HP, or just allow everything to work smoother with the additional HP from the cam???
