It depends on the Double-DIN unit.

From what I hear, the Pioneer's USB box (which you have to buy to give the AVIC-D3 USB support) sucks. Most people say to stick with an iPod. I have neither and cannot judge. Check out www<dot>avic411<dot>com for more info.

I don't know about the Kenwood units.

I have the Avic D3 with the Ipod adapter and the XM unit. The ipod features are really nice. The ipod charges and can stay in my glove box while I control it on screen. I usually have a the navigation disc in the unit. My ipod supports movies also so I can load a few movies if I really want. It's tight.

I have an old ipod click..That is probably the problem..Can you get the album artwork displayed off a thumb drive? And isn't it supposed to pop up from an ipod when attached? and charge it?

How about just one that works with the ipod/iphone/flashdrive/dvd. Best of all worlds.

I'm using a thumb drive with my Kenwood. It has great built-in support (no adapter necessary) and it loads up much faster than a DVD. It displays cover art and has a three line display of track information that you can modify (artist, album, title, composer, genre, etc.).

I haven't tried the iPod support but I hear it's similar. But you can get 4GB thumb drives for under $30 so I figured why spend more?

Thanks guys..I'm going to do the Thumb drive way. Doesn't make any sense to buy a new ipod just to use that..I'll probably take the ipod kit back, that will pay for the thumb drive. The thumb drive makes so much more sense..If that gets ripped off ,who cares. The ipod,I would not be happy, but that means the stereo is gone too then..
