Default Those with ProChargers & Aftermarket Cooling Fans, come on in..

Alright, I'm getting the car ready for its tune while ATI does some warranty work on the headunit.

The car had over heating issues in cool weather with the stock cooling system and the ATI single fan, even with the A/C off. I just installed a Howe 2 core radiator last week and that basically eliminated all the cooling issues with the A/C off, however with it on and it being 90-100* outside I'm still running into issue.

My assumption is the single fan that comes with the kit isn't sufficient and I'm looking into aftermarket fans. What are you guys using or what do you suggest. Jegs has a few Permacool fans which seam decent but I was wondering what you guys are using currently, or would suggest?

Thanks for any input!

I was told as I am in the middle of a build, that (EPP) you can use another smaller 8" I believe lined up diagnolly as a 2nd fan. Around $90 on EPP's site.

Above and to the driver side of the car in relation to the current fan? Is that where you mean?

^ how are you fitting the stock fans in there? Is the head unit not in the way?

I have a setup similar to this

Kind of high $ but it seems to work pretty well. If you don't want to spend that kind of coin, you could probably just add an 8" fan like EPP does.

For the price it looks a little 'hack-job' to me, but I like the idea. Surely someone could buy the fans separately and just drill the additional holes in the provided shroud from ATI? I'll probably all EPP in the morning and see what they think, or if they can even source a better flowing single fan in place of the ATI unit.

What type of CFM total (whether that be 2 fans combined, or 1) should I be looking for? 2800-3000 ish CFM?

I also need to consider clearance issues with the thicker 2 core radiator over the stock thinner single core.

First of all, make sure the ProCharger supplied fan is blowing the correct direction. It has been wired up to blow the wrong direction more times than I can count.

This is the Spal fan we use in conjunction with the ProCharger supplied fan for extremely hot climates.

Here is a link to how it gets installed.

Bob, as primitive of a test I can do, holding my hand between the fan and the motor is blows pretty hard on it, would that happen if it was wired up wrong?

I'll look into the Spal fan, it looks like it might work. You don't happen to know the CFM rating on the ATI fan would you?

Would the Spal fan be more efficient than buying a replacement for the ATI unit?

I have a single Spal 2300 cfm 16" fan on my new setup (iron 408 + F1-C) and so far with a Be-Cool & Mez elec pump it's running under 180*. It moves a LOT more air (noisy as heck too) and seems to be the answer but I haven't driven it in the heat yet either.

Bob, if I were to get that fan from you guys, is it just spliced into the current wires or are you running it off a switch?

That is what I was initially thinking of doing. It looks like if I did you would just have the elec WP on me (well I have a Howe radiator but still).

Mine is absolutely fine in the heat if the A/C is off, but it looks like I have an airflow issue at idle and low speeds with it on.

I had a local shop fab up a similar one that SDCE makes. So far so good, it works well. I'm using a LT1 radiator, 160 stat and water wetter too. The temps seem to stay around 200°. This is a new setup for me so I haven't given it a hard test yet with summer temps and running the a/c yet. I'm sure it'll still get warm but hopefully not overheat.

I'll probably order a Spal today, how are you guys wiring? Just splicing into the wire for both?

Same wiring as stock. It was ATI that had you modify the wiring for one fan.

I took my fan control away from the computer and hard wired it to a toggle switch and I control the fans now it never overheats even after making several passes at the track in 90+ degree days.
