Default High beam ?????

anybody have an exploded diagram of the high beam lever, and how it connects to the rod....
I was trying to fix mine, and a black plastic piece fell out, and I don't know how it went back in...
It obviously pushes the rod down to activate the switch, but I spent 2 hours trying to get it back in there, and couldn't figure it out...
any help ???????

this is in the steering column where the turn signal is....

OHHHHH NO!!! You didn't! You completely screwed yourself on that one! It is possible to get back in. Just not easy. Hang in there.

Did you get it? I was hoping the pics could help you confirm which way to install it.

Is there any resistance? Sounds like the rod came out of the concave part of the actuator.

I think I had to push the rod down but keep it in line with the concave grove. Then when you have the plate in place let the rod up.

well I figured it out...
getting it in there was easy..
the problem I saw was that when I actuated the lever.. it wouldn't push far enough down to activate the switch...
almost as if the switch slid down the column.. dunno????
So I only needed about an 1/8 of an inch to make it work, so I cut a piece of rod, and put it in the switch, and then slid the rod into the cup on top of the piece of rod I cut, and presto...
I now have high, and low beam headlights again

thanks a lot 2002_Z28_Six_Speed.. you helped me out a bunch...

It is one of those hard things to explain. I would of done it if I was anywhere remotely close to you.

You are correct though. The actuall switch is pop riveted to a sheet metal bracket and that bracket has slots on it. The screws, however, will be very hard to get to. They are facing up. You can adjust it back to fit. It just won't be easy.

These are good cars though. they are worth the trouble.
