Default msd 6010 box and timing?

im going to start playing with the timing curves and wondering what you hardcore guys are running?
car should be close to 450rwhp and runs 6.90 at almost 100 mph.
3380 raceweight.
6.0 on a set of ported heads. 235/237 599 602 cam. 11.2 compression.
just trying to get a feeeler of where everyone is sitting.

its kind of going to be trial and error, read the plugs
i start out at 18 degs, by 2k i have 30, then ramp it up to around 34 at my lite cruise rpm, around 2500-3000, then back it off to 29 from around 3500 on up
i needed the timing off idle to make the carb happy-i run a procharger, so mine might be a lot diff-i also boost retard down another couple degs-i run a lot of fuel thru the carb, so gotta keep it lit
one thing i noticed on mine, and it wasnt supercharger related, i had to switch to a green pump cam to make it rev clean off idle, i fought that problem for a while, acted just like a dead cyl or bad valve, strange, but it just wanted a lot of gas-this was not related to one carb, i tried 2 diff ones searching for the problem, both carbs the green cam-agressive shot, cured the problem-so i was able to switch back to my blowthru carb

34* seems really high. Most ls1's I have seen only like around 27-29* total, and you are FI.

most of the ls1's with timing in the 20's are efi.
i mentioned this in another post.
with efi, the fuel is sprayed in. a carb, its sucked in. does this play a role in timing? i have no clue.
LOL.
im gonna work on it.

I think the efficiency of the heads is what is responsible for the timing more so than the method of introducing fuel. The more flow in and out the later the spark can be applied. I may be wrong, but soon enough I will have the car on the dyno to test it all. I am not gonna run over 28* until I know for sure.

mine detted on UK fuel at 34 and 36 degrees timing on stock heads with a 220/220 cam.
with it backed off to 28-29deg max it runs fine.

mine is at 29* max from 3000 to 6500. i took it out today with the new carb upgrades and still pulled like mad at over 6000 rpm in first and second gear.

Tj I'm 3460 race weight and it made 450rwhp on the dyno it runs 6.9x's at 98-100mph with a 1.55-1.65 60' so it sounds like our setups are very similar except Im running stock heads. I tuned the total timing on the dyno and found it made the best power at 32* total timing all in at 2500-2600 rpm's. At 30* it lost 5 hp, at 34* it lost 8 hp compared to the 32* As for the lower/driveability rpms that was just trail and error as to what the carb and cam wants. Hope this helps
