Default Do these plugs look lean?

These plugs are from a 125 wet shot. I was checking to see how they looked. I was thinking of running the 150 shot. I thought they looked a tad lean. What do you think?

I am using the suggested jets according to the kit. Nitrous .057 fuel .031. The plugs have been in the car for maybe 500 miles. I have only used 2-3 bottles with them.

Should I change the plugs and put the 150 jets and then check them again and go from there?

Actually now that i know they are basically new plugs they dont look too bad..I would'nt
change them as long as they are the colder plugs you should be fine..Especially sinse
your running the recommended jets..

Now im confused. They look a little white to me. Is that normal with the TR6's? Just want to make sure. Don't want to go boom because of a bad plug...

did you make a run with the 125 shot and immediately shut down and pull those plugs in the place where you shut down? If you drove at all on those plugs before pulling them then you cannot use them as a lean/rich reading. Even if you just idled back to the pits. Part throttle fueling on motor is VERY lean and will clean the plugs off over time.

You could use them to see if they are overheating..or atleast overheated at some point prior to pulling them.

The first pic of a single plug looks like it may have been hot at one time. But its hard to make an accurate assumption from a pic really. And there are various reason for being too hot. Being too hot does not always mean it was too lean (although thats probably the most common reason).

Edit** BTW....if you did pull these plugs directly after a nitrous run...they are too lean IMO.

Actually, that was another question I had. I did not pull these right after a run. I drove home and then pulled them. I wasn't sure if the plugs would change. I have a dyno tune for na so my a/f should be dead on.

What do you mean by overheating? What would cause that?

No one can tell if they are lean the fuel ring is at the bottom. cut the plug down.

Fuel ring? Can you explain more about where it is? I always thought you looked at the top.

to see the fuel ring you really need to cut the threads off to expose the porcelin insulator. There will be a ring of soot at the base. That is a more accurate indicator of rich or lean.

But IMO you can still get a rudemetary idea of rich/lean condition or excessive heat by looking at the plug without cutting it down. But youll really only see if its WAY rich or WAY lean in that case and its typically very obvious. If your plug looks ok at the top and you want to fine tune...your gonna have to cut the threads down.

But again...dont forget to pull over immediately after your run and pull the plugs. I would do it right in the return lane at the track.

Put a fresh plug in make a pass kill it threw the traps then change it and drive back. save it. make another pass so you have a plug with 2 runs and minimal driving. then use a cutoff wheel to cut the threads down well bellow where the porcelin is exposed to the chaimber. the cutoof wheeel will cut the metal but not the porcelin. then post a pic of them
