Default What The HELL Is Wrong With My Car!?! I Need Help Severely

Okay im really new to this forum...ive been a member of the Sacrmento based SacFBodyz.com for a while now but ive joined here as well..

anways...okay i drive an LT1 and it is MESSED UP and i dont know whats wrong.

last night the car started to shake when i turned it on and i thought it was just cold and needed to warm up.

anyways...today the cars ignition would turn but when i turned it to turn the car on all the car would do was make this "clunking" noise and as i kept turning the ignition the car would continue to make this noise but it eventually started but after it started the car started to shoot and i mean SHOOT plumes of smoke out it's exhaust.

anyone know wtf is going on?

fuel or spark problem. Check the wires for arcing (including the coil wire). Pull the plugs and see which one is fouled. That will point you in the right direction. After that I would look at the coolent temp sensor, if it is unplugged/failed, it will tell the PCM to flood the car with fuel as it thinks it is very cold out.

Moved to the correct forum, and I've removed your signature image because, well it's just too damn big.

if it needs wires/plugs, anywhere from $30-$150 depending on what you go with. Oh yeah, a whole bunch of your time and skinned knuckles swapping the wires on that LT1. A fair amount of cursing too!

Not sure on the cost of a sensor.

I'd hazard a guess and say the sensor would be in the $20-30 range....

ARe you losing water? Is the car running hot or have you run it hot in the past few days. if not i dought its a blown headgasket. What is your oil pressure showing? Could be an internal problem but first,

Things i would check:

plugs and wires

Temperature sending unit

Not sure about the smoke but if the car is having a hard time idling check and see if the catalytic converter is stopped up.

Check the vaccum line off the fuel pressure regulator and make sure there is not a bunch of gas in it..
