Default boost vs pump gas??

im going to be getting a new blower at the end of the month and it is set up for 17 psi what i was wanting to know is were do i draw the line?? i want as much boost as i can get on pump gas no meth, and i under stand that just because it made 17 psi on the car it came off of that it does not mean that it will make that same amount on my car

also i have 60 lbs injectors and twin 225s but i have stock lines were is the point when you NEED to change the lines??

and last but not least my motor is 9:8:1 with 6.0 heads plus EPP blower cam im not sure how much this will effect thing but i know yall might need to know this in order to help me out, plus the motor is fully built
any advise here guy/gals???

you'll never get 17psi, 9:8.1CR and straight pump 93. With meth that might be a possibility. Without meth, Id shoot for 8:3.1 CR if your trying to run 17psi & 93 octane.
A guy i know runs 8:37.1 CR and 18 psi with 94 octane, and no meth.

I just don't understand why someone wouldn't want meth at that level...

If you got a d1sc, your in for a treat trying to get 17psi. It will need a 3.20 or so pulley to spin it hard, with the stock bracket/pulley that wont happen.

Most i had ever seen out of a d1 was 19psi, we had a 8.65in crank pulley machined and had the d1sc maxed out and over spun. And we still ate belts for breakfast.

its not that i dont want meth i just dont have it just yet, im getting a D1 and it is set up for 17 pis i dont want that much boost yet, but what i was wanting to see is that IF if made that kinda boost on my car would i be ok with pump gas, hell i hope it makes like12-14 psi but on the car it came off of it was making 17 psi

i guess the best thing to do is put it on the car and see how much boost it makes and go from there?

That all depends on the engine, my D1SC with a 222/228 cam at 9.5:1 made 17psi @ 7000rpm with a 7.25/3.4 pulley with no issues in decent weather. Bigger cam/less compression/more cubes will lower that naturally.

But PSI doesnt mean much, a honda can run 17psi on a stock engine all day on pump gas. I'd wory about the power output, IAT and blower cfm and use that as a guide for what fuel to use - not PSI.

Either way you are not going to be able to run a maxed out D1SC on pump gas unless its a 8:1 engine with no timing. Better off slowing the blower down and losing heat/parasitic loss, it will make the same power in the end.

I think if you have a good tuner it can be done.
My D1SC was basically maxed out and it was on a pump gas tune(no meth). Got around 16.3 lbs on a 402 with a 228/236 cam. I believe the timing was around 18 degrees. That was with a Ebay special front mount intercooler. The IAT's were up there though.

With my new setup, we will be trying to max out a F1C blower(hopefully no belt slip) on pump gas and meth. But that will be with a larger name brand front mount intercooler.

As stated above: Worry about what horsepower you are looking for not psi. When I told Bob at EPP my car goals, I told him I wanted around 550 rwhp. Boost number was never a factor.

I ran 9.17 @ 149mph with a maxed out D1SC and a 346, no way are you going to do that on pump gas IMO. I ran 104 unleaded and it was knocking the gaskets out of until I went to 112.

If by a 'good tuner' you mean a 'good de-tuner' then I agree it can be done I think the best I ran on the same combo on straight 93 was 9.55 @ 143 or something.

I would just slow the blower down, if all you want is 10's you should easily get that on pump gas. I ran 10.40s with a 7.25/4" when I first put the car together and was getting everything figured out and that was like with 12 degrees of peak timing on 9" wide ET streets and 93 octane.

I ran well into the 9s on the same fuel system with the stock lines, it will be fine for your 10 second goal. I never go into anything full blast, there are so many variables involved and 100.00 pulleys are way cheaper then engines. Always best to start slow and work your way up, even though on paper the D1SC doesnt 'look' that much bigger then the P1SC on the car there quite a difference between them if the belt doesnt slip.

Not a big deal, best to ask first. I would probably start with the 3.7 and see what happens. If you can log and have a wideband you can get a good handle on it pretty quick. if its too much and you have detonation issues just slow it down some, I would probably invest in a meth kit if you are planning on running pump gas though. The crap that comes out of the ground these days varies quite a bit and the meth is good insurance.
